Putting Green Turf: A 240 Square Foot Green Is $1,070.40 Before the Fringe
You stand in the turf aisle at the yard with a backyard green in mind and a tape measure in your pocket. A putting green is a materials list before it is anything else: the putting surface, the fringe collar around it, the pad under it, the sand that goes into it, and the glue and tape that hold the seams. Rockhouse stocks every line on that list and prices each one by its own unit.
This guide is the list with the yard price beside every line, and the square-foot math for a 12 by 20 foot green with a 2 foot fringe collar. Rockhouse sells the materials. Your own crew builds the green.
Rockhouse runs a 7-acre stone yard in Hot Springs Village with Bennett Brothers of Hot Springs heritage since 1972. The yard stocks the turf in rolls, quotes the roll width and the cut, and loads your trailer with a forklift.
The putting surface: two grades of putting green turf
The golf turf aisle holds two putting surfaces, both priced by the square foot.
Fusion Turf Putt costs $4.46 per square foot. It is a texturized nylon putting surface built for indoor and outdoor greens. It holds up under use, needs little maintenance, and gives a true roll for recreational putting and mini golf.
Fusion Turf Putt Prime costs $5.85 per square foot. It is a premium, high-density nylon that gives a smoother and truer roll, and it holds shots that land from a distance. The manufacturer calls it the most realistic putting surface in the line. The aisle also carries Fusion Turf Augusta Putting Green at $4.13 per square foot.
The fringe collar around the green
A green needs a border of taller grass, and that is the fringe. Fusion Turf Golf Fringe costs $4.48 per square foot. It gives a first-cut height of grass around the putting surface, a realistic transition from the green to the surrounding landscape, and a place to practice fringe putts and bump-and-run shots. The aisle also stocks Fusion Turf Golf Fringe HD at $4.64 per square foot and Fusion Turf Golf Fringe EX at $6.02 per square foot.
Bunker, chip and tee surfaces
Fusion Turf Golf Bunker costs $5.60 per square foot. It is a white or tan turf that gives a backyard course the look of a sand trap with no raking and no weeding. Fusion Turf Golf Chip costs $5.64 per square foot. It is a dense, impact-absorbing turf for chipping zones, and the club head slides through it without grabbing.
For a tee area the aisle carries Fusion Turf Tee Line (Standard) at $10.48 per square foot and Fusion Turf Tee Line (12' Wide) at $10.40 per square foot.
What goes under and into the turf
The Putting Green Underlayment Pad costs $2,100.00 per roll. It is a shock-absorbing layer that goes under a synthetic green. It smooths out minor imperfections in the sub-base and gives a realistic ball reception when a chip lands on the green. The roll dimensions are not on the product record. Ask the yard how many square feet one roll covers before you price it.
Infill sand is the ballast that weighs the turf down. The infill aisle holds two grades, both priced by the pallet. Easyfill 30/50 Infill Sand costs $1,489.62 per pallet. It is a round-grain silica sand graded for turf ballast. The 30/50 mesh settles into the fibers, holds the turf flat against wrinkling, and helps the blades stand up. Its zinc omadine coated vinyl finish is nonabsorbent and cuts pet urine odor. Easyfill 16/30 Infill Sand costs $1,465.10 per pallet. Its coarser grain suits heavy traffic and sports turf and gives better drainage and stability. Pallet weight and bags per pallet are not on the record. Ask the yard.
Seams take adhesive and tape. The yard's post on turf glue coverage prices the Turf Claw adhesive and seam tape and says how far each container goes.
Under the pad sits a compacted base, and Rockhouse sells that too. The Decomposed Granite and Base calculator takes the area and the depth and returns tons at 1.4 tons per cubic yard.
The math for a 12 by 20 foot green
A 12 by 20 foot green is 240 square feet. In Fusion Turf Putt the surface costs $1,070.40. In Fusion Turf Putt Prime it costs $1,404.00. The difference between the two grades on this green is $333.60.
A 2 foot fringe collar around that green makes the whole footprint 16 by 24 feet. That is 384 square feet. Subtract the 240 square feet of green and the collar is 144 square feet. In Fusion Turf Golf Fringe that collar costs $645.12. A green in Fusion Turf Putt with a fringe collar therefore runs $1,715.52 in turf before the pad, the sand, the glue and the base.
Turf ships in rolls, and a roll has a fixed width. The yard quotes the roll width and the cut for your dimensions, and the cut decides how much turf you buy beyond the bare square footage. Order 10 percent over for the cuts, and bring the pad and infill questions to the same call.
Scale the same math to your green
Every line in this list prices by an area or by a container. The arithmetic scales in a straight line. Measure the green, multiply by the surface price, and you have the surface cost. Draw the collar around it, subtract the green, and multiply by the fringe price. A 10 by 15 foot green is 150 square feet, which is $669.00 in Fusion Turf Putt, and its 2 foot collar is 14 by 19 feet minus the green, which is 116 square feet, or $519.68 in Fusion Turf Golf Fringe.
The pad and the sand come by the roll and by the pallet, and neither quantity is on the record. The two counter questions cover them. How many square feet does one roll of pad cover? How many square feet does one pallet of sand fill at the depth this turf takes? The yard answers both on the phone, and the answers decide whether your green needs one roll or two and one pallet or a fraction of one.
Putt or Putt Prime: what the $1.39 per square foot buys
The two putting surfaces differ by $1.39 per square foot, and the manufacturer's descriptions say what that buys. Fusion Turf Putt is the recreational surface. It gives a true roll, takes indoor or outdoor use, and asks for little upkeep. Fusion Turf Putt Prime is the denser nylon. The denser face rolls smoother and truer, and it holds a ball that lands from a chip or a pitch.
On a 240 square foot green that difference is $333.60. A green built for putting practice alone does its job in Fusion Turf Putt. A green that will take chip shots from the fringe or from a chip zone earns the Prime surface, because holding the landing is the point of the shot. Put your hand on both at the yard before you decide.
Bunker and chip zones on the same green
A backyard course grows past the green itself once the putting surface is down, and the two add-on surfaces price the same way. A bunker of 4 by 6 feet is 24 square feet. In Fusion Turf Golf Bunker at $5.60 per square foot that is $134.40. A chipping zone of 6 by 8 feet is 48 square feet. In Fusion Turf Golf Chip at $5.64 per square foot that is $270.72. Both take the same base and infill questions as the green.
A tee area is the one surface in the aisle priced above $10.00 per square foot. A 4 by 8 foot tee mat is 32 square feet. In Fusion Turf Tee Line (Standard) at $10.48 that is $335.36. Price the green and the fringe first, then add the zones the yard has room for.
Pick up the rolls or have the yard deliver
Rockhouse stocks, sorts, weighs, prices, loads and delivers. It never installs, builds or lays anything. Your own crew does that work. Orders load by the pallet, the super sack or the full truckload. At the yard the crew loads your trailer with a forklift.
Delivery is free on 3 or more pallets to Hot Springs Village and all of Garland County. Below three pallets the yard quotes the run. Freight to other regions runs through the yard, and contractors get delivery straight to the jobsite. The yard will meet or beat any stone supplier's price.
Contractors who buy every week open a verified pro account for trade pricing and net terms. Qualified buyers can open trade credit, and the Rockhouse Rewards Program gives tiered discounts to repeat and volume buyers. The online store shows inventory and pricing. The yard takes the order on the phone.
