Pet Turf for Dogs That Drains Fast and Stays Green
Pet turf gives your dogs a green backyard to run and play on, and the right grade drains fast after every trip outside. We stock four pet turfs at our yard in Hot Springs Village, and we sell each one by the square foot. The grade that fits your backyard depends on how many dogs use it and how hard they play. You want a space your dogs can use every day, and one you like to look at from the back door.
We are a 7-acre stone yard with Bennett Brothers of Hot Springs heritage since 1972. You can come see the samples here before you choose a grade.
How to match pet turf to your dogs
Pet turf is artificial turf for dogs, and you may hear it called fake grass for dogs. Pet Max and Pet Standard are the grades built to drain urine fast. Pet HD and Pet Standard are the grades with tough fibers for dogs that dig and scratch. Find your dogs in the list below, and start with that grade.
- For one or two dogs in an everyday backyard, start with Fusion Turf Pet (Standard).
- For a kennel or a home with several dogs, choose Fusion Turf Pet HD (Heavy Duty).
- For the most drainage and the softest feel, look at Fusion Turf Pet Max.
- For a real-grass look in a backyard your family shares with your dogs, pick Fusion Turf Pet EX (Premium).
Today's price for each grade is on its product page, and our pet turf page lists all four grades together.
Fusion Turf Pet (Standard) for a backyard your dogs use every day
Fusion Turf Pet (Standard) is a fast-draining grade for the backyard where your dogs spend their day. Its permeable backing lets urine flush through, and that cuts the odor. The fibers stand up to scratching and play from an active dog.
Fusion Turf Pet HD (Heavy Duty) for kennels and homes with several dogs
Fusion Turf Pet HD (Heavy Duty) is the toughest grade in our pet line. We stock it for kennels and dog parks, and it also suits a home where several dogs share one backyard.
Its extra-thick fibers resist digging and matting. That matters most at the fence line your dogs dig at and on the path they race down every day.
Fusion Turf Pet Max for the most drainage in the pet line
Fusion Turf Pet Max has the softest feel of the four grades, and liquid drains through it right away after your dog goes. The yarn also stays cool, and that suits a dog that likes to stretch out on the turf for long hours.
Fusion Turf Pet EX (Premium) for a real-grass look
Fusion Turf Pet EX (Premium) mixes blades in several shades of green, and that gives your backyard a real-grass look. It drains well, and its antimicrobial additives help cut odor and bacteria.
Infill sand that cuts the odor from pet urine
We stock two infill sands for pet turf, Easyfill 30/50 Infill Sand and Easyfill 16/30 Infill Sand. Both have a Zinc Omadine ZOE coating, and the coated sand absorbs nothing. That coating cuts the odor from pet urine. We sell both sands by the pallet, and our infill sand page lists the two of them together.
Pet Standard and Pet EX each bring odor control of their own to the turf. Pair either grade with the coated sand, and you get odor control in the turf and in the sand.
Your dogs use the same patch of turf every day, so choose the infill sand on the same call as the turf. Ask us which of the two sands fits the grade you pick.
Glue and seam tape to join the rolls
A backyard wider than one roll needs a seam, and we stock Turf Claw adhesives and Turf Claw Seam Tape for joining rolls. Our post on turf glue coverage helps you work out how much adhesive your seams take. Ask us for the roll width of the grade you pick, and we work out the seam tape with you.
What to check when you see the samples at the yard
A visit to the yard lets you compare the four grades with your own hands before you buy. Press your palm into Pet Max and then into Pet HD, and feel which one suits the way your dogs play. Turn a piece of Pet Standard over to see its backing. Look at Pet EX in daylight beside the other three grades.
Bring a photo of your backyard on your phone, and make sure it shows the spots where your dogs dig. We can talk through the grades with you while the space is right there on the screen.
We work out how much turf and infill you need
Measure the length and the width of your backyard or dog run at the widest points. Work in feet, and round each figure up to the next whole foot. Multiply the length by the width, and you have the square feet of turf for that space. For example, a dog run 12 feet wide and 40 feet long covers 480 square feet.
Break an odd-shaped backyard into rectangles, and add up the square feet of each one. An L-shaped backyard might split into one rectangle 20 feet by 30 feet and a second one 10 feet by 15 feet. Those come to 600 square feet and 150 square feet, so that backyard takes 750 square feet of turf. If your dogs use a side strip along the house, measure it as its own rectangle and add it in.
If the space has a patio or a flower bed in it, measure that area the same way and subtract it from the total. Say the L-shaped backyard above has a patio 10 feet by 12 feet in one corner. The patio covers 120 square feet. Take that away from 750, and the turf for that backyard comes to 630 square feet.
Sketch the space on paper, and write the measurement beside each side. Call us with those figures, and we work out the turf and the pallets of infill sand for free. You can also bring the sketch to the yard. If you split the backyard between two grades, measure each part on its own and mark on the sketch which grade goes where. Ask us for the pile height and the face weight of the grade you pick at the same time.
Pet turf for kennels and contractor jobs
A kennel or a dog park often covers more ground than a backyard, so call us with the measurements for each pen and each path. Give each pen a number on your sketch. Then write the length and the width of that pen beside its number. We work out the turf and the pallets of infill sand for the whole site, and we add the seam tape and the adhesive to the same quote.
When you buy for a contractor's job, we deliver straight to your jobsite. That saves your crew the run to the yard and the wear on the truck. For a job beyond the local area, we coordinate the freight. A kennel far from Hot Springs Village gets the same pet turf as a backyard down the road.
